CoreDX DDS Tips & Tricks

Welcome to this month's edition of CoreDX DDS Tips & Tricks, where our engineers provide quick bits of information to help our customers.

Making use of interfaces and interface_names configuration

By default, CoreDX DDS will look for, and use, all available network interfaces. When your computer or device contains multiple network interfaces, consider configuring CoreDX DDS to use only the subset of interfaces needed for DDS communications. (This may be only the 'localhost' interface, if all DDS communications are isolated to on-device).

Allowing CoreDX DDS to use multiple network interfaces results in larger discovery messages, and more traffic on the network as peers will send DDS messages to ALL advertised IP addresses.

Interfaces and interface_names may be configured via environment variables, or via the CoreDX DDS transport API. Refer to the Programmer's Guide Chapter 15 "CoreDX DDS Transport" for additional information.

CoreDX DDS Tips & Tricks are intended to be useful for engineers using CoreDX DDS. If you have any questions, please contact us.
