CoreDX DDS Tips & Tricks Welcome to this month's edition of CoreDX DDS Tips & Tricks, where our engineers provide quick bits of information to help our customers. CoreDX DDS Dynamic Types - an Introduction CoreDX DDS supports data types that are defined at compile time (using IDL or XML, and using the coredx_ddl type compiler to generate type-specific DDS APIs). Alternatively, the application may create data types at run-time. These data types are considered Dynamic Types. Dynamic Types may be registered and used to create Dynamic DataReaders and Dynamic DataWriters. The application uses Dynamic Data (samples) to read and write data with Dynamic DataReaders and Dynamic DataWriters. Dynamic Types can be useful in a number of scenarios. One example is to create a DataReader based on a discovered data type. In this case, the application discovers the data type using built-in DataReaders, and then using the CoreDX DDS dynamic types API, created a Dynamic Type. For more information on the History QoS policy and its effect on DataReader and DataWriter caches, check out the published CoreDX DDS Type System Programmer's Guide. CoreDX DDS Tips & Tricks are intended to be useful for engineers using CoreDX DDS. If you have any questions, please contact us.
